Bye Bye Dark Circles- Hello Bright Eyes

If you were stranded on an island and could only have one beauty essential, what would it be? Mine without a doubt would be concealer. I'll be honest with you, I've always had really bad dark circles and they will almost immediately get worse if I don't get a full 8 hours of sleep ( by the way, 8 hours of sleep almost never happens). Thankfully, I'm not stranded on an Island and have been able to search high and low for the perfect under-eye combination that will help me say goodbye to my dark circles. Here are three steps you can take to help you look bright eyed (bushy-tailed) & well rested.

First, find yourself an under-eye corrector. The Becca Cosmetics Eye Brightening Corrector in light to medium is a holy grail product. I apply this corrector prior to putting on my concealer to help brighten my under eye area and mask the blue discoloration.  This product has a blacklight technology that helps reflect light and draws attention away from fine lines and wrinkles. It also gives your eyes a "lifted" affect to appear even more awake.

Finding the right shade:  A Peach and Orange tone corrector helps warm up and cancel out the cool tones under our eyes. If you have more of a purplish discoloration, a yellow tone corrector may suit you better.

The next step I take in masking my horrid dark circles is applying a concealer. The Make up For Ever Full Coverage Concealer is one of my favorite concealers to use to cover my dark circles. It's ultra-long lasting and waterproof making a little go along way and I don't have to worry about it budging throughout the day. I love the consistency of this concealer because although it's a fuller coverage concealer it is light and creamy and doesn't settle into my fine lines.

Lastly, take the time to SET your under eyes. You just spent all this time trying to cover them up, so show your under eyes some respect and set the concealer in place. I use Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting powder to keep my concealer locked and ready to conquer whatever the day throws my way. I absolutely LOVE this powder. It's a sheer coverage powder with a matte, silky smooth finish.  I will substitute this powder with the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening powder if I'm extra tired and my under eyes need even more help.

Tip: If your under eye area is dry, don't let the powder set on the skin for too long. Simply use a brush to dust a small amount of product under your eyes. This will help keep the product from enhancing any fine lines or wrinkles.

Whether you're busy tackling a crazy work schedule, a college student staying up until 3:00 am finishing an assignment you put off, or a new mom sleep training your baby, you all deserve to have one in common...bright under eyes. Even if that means faking it and using this three step method to help you achieve the appearance. What are you favorite ways to help you look like you've had 8 hours of sleep?

Live Boldly,
